I don't know about you all, but not only do I L-O-V-E Fall, I ABSOLUTELY L-O-V-E Candy Corn! Not only the taste, but the inspiration it brings me!!
So I put together a few fun Candy Corn inspired projects to set the yummy mood of Fall and the holidays. First, I want to show you the centerpiece I made for my sister....
Ombre Candy Corn Wine Bottle Centerpiece
I was perusing through Pinterest one day {like I do just about EVERY day}and I came across a neato mosquito project that consisted of recycling wine bottles. Okay, I am NOT a lush, but if you are crazy-obsessed with Pinterest like I am, then you probably save {okay, HOARD} many things that can be re-used for projects. I have saved so many wine bottles, my husband finally relocated them all down into the garage {he put tape over the holes so gross spiders wouldn't make their homes inside them....ewwwwww}. Anyway, when I stumbled upon this great picture tutorial for Ombre Wine Bottles below...
This was such an easy project to make, but one suggestion...if you are a perfectionist {like me}, don't try to cut corners by purchasing the small cans of spray paint...you WILL run out. I did probably 3 coats of all colors on each bottle because it needed to look perfect....well, perfect in my eyes, because I'm so darn anal!
After I was finished, I grabbed some sticks out of the yard and it was complete!! I went to the Dollar Tree and purchased a bag of candy corn to give with the gift as well:) Needless to say, my sis loved them! Yippee!! The only downfall to this project, was I didn't make any for myself...yet:)
*UPDATE*
I finally made a set for myself...what do you think?
The next project I created was inspired by the wine bottle tutorial...
Candy Corn Monogram Door Hanger
This is one of my favorite projects that I have done recently! I used the same technique as above, but used an oval canvas instead of bottles. I painted a large wooden letter black, then made the white dots using a pencil eraser dipped in white paint. I thought this technique was cool because it was easy, all the dots are the same size, and EVERYONE has a pencil laying around:) Before I glued the letter on, I coated the entire painted canvas with Outdoor Modge Podge..the best stuff ever. I also coated the "M" as well. To hang it, I hammered 2 saw-tooth picture hangers to the back wooden frame of the canvas, then tied twine to them, put it on door and TAAADAAA! {All items were purchased at the lovely Hobby Lobby, either on sale or with a 40% off coupon}
There you have it! Two fun, beautiful, easy Fall DIY projects that anyone would love as a gift, including yourself;) The best part about fall projects, is you can have them out for a good 2 or 3 months...I like to start decorating for fall in September, then they come down after Turkey Day. I would absolutely love to hear what you think of these projects! What are your favorite Fall DIY projects?? Please share your ideas:)
I've linked this project onto House of Rose, Brag About It, City Farmhouse, Sugar and Dots and I was featured at The Cottage Market's "Junkin' Joe"!
